With the price of crude oil predicted to reach $200 a barrel later this year and our carbon footprint bigger than ever, now is as good a time as any to look at alternative power sources. Unfortunately, we still need to work, which means driving to work, and I don't know about you, but I cannot afford to replace my vehicle at this point in time. Public transport in South Africa is also limited, so I am stuck with driving at this moment.
I have found a couple of great articles on making biodiesel, and some of these options actually look like they are do-able by any home body.
NB: I have not tried any of these methods, so I cannot vouch for their effectiveness or safety. Always take precautions when working with chemical reactions, and be sure to be aware of the laws of your country before attempting any of these recipes.
