The hardest parts of an international move is not packing up everything that you own into containers and watching the truck drive away with it, not quite knowing when or if you will see it again.
It is not all the admin you have to do to get permits and flights and everything else.
No the hardest part of an international move are all the little goodbyes that you say along the way.
It's the people you know that you'll never see again.
It is the lovely ladies at your local supermarket who have been bantering with you for four years.
It is the friendly postman or the DPD delivery man that have been a part of your life for such a long time in such a small and big way
It is saying goodbye to the the friendly lady who delivers your Chinese take-away once a month.
Those are the things that are really the hardest you know when you make an international move.
You do these things for yourself or your family and you have a clear route and destination and you know it is going to be great.
But it's the little goodbyes that you say along the way and the little realizations of “I'm never going to have this thing again” or I'm never going eat this thing again” or “I am never going to see this person again”.
That is the hardest thing.
