Book: Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk

Snuff

I am really not sure what to rate this book. Gut says I should give it a 5 or 6, at the very least. Head says 1. I will compromise, for now, on a 3 out of 5.

But look, this book, it is about porn and the porn industry. And about men. And, well, about penises and vaginas. But mostly, it is about people. But it’s not for everyone. Most will find it offensive and vulgar, possibly even badly written. And this is definitely not a book for younger readers. Or sensitive readers.

This was my first introduction to Chuck Palahniuk's writing, and it was an interesting choice. I’ve had Fight Club and a couple of others on my wish list for some time, but could not resist when I saw this one on sale recently. But I enjoyed these 198 pages more than I did the whole of the Twilight saga, so that must say something. It is brilliantly written, and the voice is strong and musky, possibly smells a little like Mr 600.

Buggrit, I am going with my gut and giving this book:

ööööö

Is that 5 out of 5 or 10? I read his Invisible Monsters and gave it a 3/5. He is a good author but in terms of that specific genre, I think I prefer Ben Elton or Carl Hiaasen.

It's a 5 out of 5 :)

Will give those two authors a go - can you recommend any books?
