Breaking the mould

Quote of the Day:
Every revolution evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new bureaucracy.
--Franz Kafka

Every day, we get up and go to work. We work, so we can pay the bills. We have bills, so we can live. We live, so we can work. And we hope that, one day, when we are too old to work, we can live a peaceful life somewhere quiet, maybe away from the city.

Yup, that about sums it up.

In between, we sacrifice our hopes and dreams, and try and provide a better life for our children. And the better lives we envision for our children will follow the same template currently applied to our lives.

Cookie-cutter lives.

Well, I for one am tired of living a cookie cutter life, only to offer my child a cookie cutter life. I want to bake cakes and tarts, and possibly some rusks too. And, while we're at it, I would like to make a quiche or two as well.

Life is changing. No longer are we able to live comfortable middle-class lives in suburbia just keeping down one job. Most jobs these days demand 18-hour days, making it near impossible to have a second, supplementary income.

We need to change direction, change our focus. We need to live in harmony with our environment. We need to pursue our dreams, and encourage our children to pursue theirs. We need to live lives that are sustainable.

And so, the Dream was born.
